Social media sites such as Twitter have now been woven into the fabric of most online marketing plans. It is easy to see why when over 36% of all marketers have found a customer via Twitter in 2013,
However, the main challenge for many businesses is how to best use Twitter to identify, engage and interact with potential customers. The following is a list of eight essential Twitter tools you can start using today to manage and grow your Twitter presence.
8 Essential Twitter Tools
1. Advanced Twitter Search
This must-have tool is still highly underutilized by many who actively use Twitter to market their business.
Advanced Twitter search allows you to dig deeper by running searches based on hashtags, specific names or phrases, people, places and more. important names for certain niches by using hashtags.

Twylah is a powerful Twitter tool that creates a custom landing page for your personal brand. Twylah will analyze your tweets and then categorize them based on the topics it deems most influential.

3. Sulia
Sulia is a social network that collects data from Twitter users and categorizes that data based on topic. Sulia then filters the data into channels which enables you to search based on niche or topic.

5. Social Bro
Social Bro has been one of my go-to Twitter tools for quite some time now. It has many specialized features including profile management, a full analytics suite, the ability to identify influencers based on topic or keyword, and keeps data of followers.
Social Bro does have a free version, however, it will limit the number of followers analyzed and additional tools available. The good news is that upgrading is very pocket friendly!

Tweriod will analyze your followers and determine the best time to schedule your tweets. By using Tweriod, you can increase exposure and put your tweet in front of the right people at the exact right time.

This Twitter tool offers an easy way to track and follow influential users within a specific niche or field. Twellow categorizes each list according to different niches.

What Twitter tools are you using in your business? I’d love to hear about them in the comments below!
This is really a super list. I am feeling glad to learn about this awesome list. Learning about twitter tools will help us to get more perfect when we are using our twitter profiles. Thanks for having this great post.
Great post! I have never heard of any of these websites. This article is seriously a gold mine! Thanks 🙂
Thrilled to hear that Stephanie! Have fun with your new tools! 🙂
Great post–did not know about most of these. Advance search–where to find? I clicked all around twitter and could not find it!! I agree on DM’s. I used to read them; now am yawning. Quit sending them, too. I wish Twitter would have a way to have a “favorite stream” as opposed to lists. The lists are kind of hidden w/in your profile. Any tool for that?
The comprehensive list of Twitter apps here! I’ve been trying a couple of them while looking for an SMM tool that would meet my needs. Finally I stopped at BuzzBundle which is all-in one solution for managing Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and Google+. With regard to Twitter, BuzzBundle makes it really easy to track brand mentions in real-time. However, I found some nifty tools I didn’t know about in this writeup. Thanks for the share, Rebekah!
have you looked at Twubs.com? I am the founder but I think our value proposition is increasing, particularly as it relates to cutting through the noise.
I have used Twubs in the past, but honestly haven’t looked at it in quite some time. I will definitely give it a second look Tony!
I like Buffer, Hootsuite and Tweepi.
Buffer for spacing out my tweets so I do not overwhelm my followers.
I use Hootsuite for following several different lists and actually conversing with people (yep that is really what twitter is for).
I use Tweepi to manage following/unfollowing people.
I love buffer Mark and am an avid user. I prefer Sprout Social over Hootsuite due to a number of reasons including their Smart Inbox and reporting features. It is much easier to manage a large number of accounts in my opinion. And yes, using a third party tool to track lists is exactly how you should be using them. You are a poster child for using Twitter the right way – to engage and connect!
There is nothing “social” about an automatic message!
100% agree Lois!
This is a fantastic list. I have some work to do this week. since I have yet to use any of these tools yet. So glad you did list any tools that auto DM people. Those tools are killing the system.
I totally agree on the auto DM. I am not a fan. In fact, I rarely even look at my DM’s anymore because they’re just simply spam. Have fun with the tools and let me know which one you like the most!
