Juggling social media isn’t easy.
Tweet this, post that, share, share, share.
Is there ever an end to the incessant stream of updates?
But you’re committed.
You want to stand out, market your business and rise above the noise.
Yet, there’s no getting around it.
Creating content and conversations seems to be a full-time job.
But it’s not yours.
You have a business and clients and daily to-do’s that must get done.
But what if there was a way to manage it all?
What if you could magically cut through the clutter at super speed or manage hundreds of tasks in the blink of an eye?
If only you had super powers like those of our favorite super heroes.
The good news? You can!
Below are super powers that you can use every day. Ready to become a social media superstar?
Let’s go!
Social Media Super Powers
Time Travel
Send an erroneous tweet? Accidentally hit share before your post was complete? It’s happened to every one of us.
If only we could travel back in time.
Maybe it would be a faster response to a negative review, or to tell a troll to take a hike before they caused so much disruption.
While you might not have the flux capacitor in your social media tool belt, you always have the opportunity for a “do-over.”
Repeat after me.
“A misstep in social media doesn’t have to be fatal.”
Whether it’s an apology or quick laugh over a mistake, it’s your response that determines the outcome.
Be real, be human, but most of all, be present in building your own social media presence. Tweet This!
Purveyor of Truth
Telling the truth.
It’s the ultimate superpower and your super strength in business and life.
But what if you could always tell who was being truthful with you?
What if you could miraculously cut through the BS and know, without a shadow of a doubt, what clients were best aligned for your business?
The truth will set you free
While you can’t wrap anyone up with the lasso of truth, you can be straightforward and honest in all of your business dealings.
Speaking the truth, no matter the situation, may not endear everyone to you, but it will uncomplicate many of the complicated situations you can find yourself in online.
Zombie Whisperer
Internet Zombies. They’re around every corner.
You know them well.
They’re your readers, fans followers and potential clients.
You know, the ones you can’t seem to figure out?
The one’s that seem to just stare blankly through your content?
They don’t interact, elicit no emotion and never, ever have anything to add to the conversation.
Want to reach them?
Give them something to talk about!
Invite them into the party. Ask them questions, share a story, get them involved.
What about your business gets you excited?
What topic would draw you out of a zombie-like coma and into a meaningful discussion?
Make it your mission to answer those questions and turn your zombie followers into active participants.
Electro-Magnetic Force Field
Wouldn’t it be super cool if you could create a force field around your business?
One that would protect your company, no matter what thoughts, opinions, or feedback was shared across social media?
You can! Well, sort of and it looks like this…
Your electro-magnetic force field is formed from the positive content you share.
It’s the way you spread your story on a daily basis.
It’s in the words you use and the content you create.
Think about it.
From blog content to video testimonials, you have the power to manage perception. Because, let’s be honest. Perception in the online world is reality.
And that reality can make or break your bottom line.
One negative review with no way to manage it and POOF! There goes your reputation.
Make it your daily duty to keep your finger on the pulse of what’s being said (and found online) about your business.
And most of all, maintain your online standing by consistently generating content that’s in alignment with your mission, vision and values.
Superhuman Speed
Who wouldn’t love to write the perfect blog post at lightning speed?
Or answer every comment, tweet or mention in a matter of moments?
While you might not be able to fly around the Internet at a supersonic pace, you can speed things up.
Put a plan in place.
Make it stick by adding it to a system and use tools that support it.
Not sure how to get started? Here’s your strategy blueprint!
Precognition
Call it what you will, precognition, clairvoyance, foresight or that nagging feeling in the pit of your stomach.
Whatever the case, it’s the ability to see into the future that will save you from social media heartache.
Assessing, analyzing and maintaining a finger on the pulse of your marketplace is the key to futuristic forecasting and your opportunity to stay ahead of the curve.
While you might not be able to predict the future every time, becoming aware of your surroundings allow you to stay agile and swift in the face of change.
Mind Reader
Wouldn’t it be great if you knew exactly what they wanted and then could provide it every time?
What marketer doesn’t want that super power, right?
Well you can have it or at least come close.
How?
Pay attention to your analytics, metrics and goals.
Numbers don’t lie and will always give you the guidance and direction you need.
Measure your conversations, interaction, engagement, and shares through tools such as Google Analytics, Sprout Social, Hootsuite, and Buffer.
However you decide to measure your online efforts, you must commit to a review process.
Get it scheduled!
Put the day and time you will review your metrics each week into your calendar and treat it like you would any other appointment.
It’s that important.
Super Hero, Super Women: My Super Geek Day
I admit it. I’m a product of the 70’s.
I have affection for bad 70’s TV shows, bell-bottom pants and music that encouraged us to “get down, get down, get down tonight.”
But most of all, my affection is for the superheroes that invaded our Saturday mornings.
As a young girl, you could find me running through the backyard, sporting my Wonder Woman underoos, lasso of truth and golden bracelets.
Last weekend, when I had the chance to meet two of my favorite super heroes, Lynda Carter and Lindsey Wagner (read more about it here), it was a little girls dream come true and the inspiration for this post.
While we all can’t be blessed with super hearing or the ability to leap tall buildings, we can dream what it would be like.
I already have an amazing talent for hyperfocusing… something grabs my attention and I’m totally immersed in what I’m doing, to the exclusion of everything else, till two hours later when I wake up and realize I’ve done it again. The only trouble is, I can’t WILL myself to do that. It just happens. If I could have any “super” power, I would wish I could do that at will… just DECIDE to do something, and focus on it and carry it through to completion.
Ah, dream on, Willena. 🙂
I couldn’t agree more about the importance of having a strategy for social media. If there’s no plan, there’s a bigger risk of failure and sadly, more wasted money. I really like the way you wrote article, that’s a neat way of seeing the way our businesses approach media. Thanks for sharing!
I’m just getting stated and have already made soooo many mistakes. Thanks for the helpful hints, good advice, and freedom to let them be.
Rebekah,
Your great tips always are welcome in many ways.
I know many of my very my weakness and pay attention to analytics is something I am not ready to do at all :-)…
I tackled many tasks so far.. but nothing close to analytics 🙂
Thanks for reminding me..
_nickc
This was such a fun post to read Rebekah. I always look forward to your content 🙂
You mentioned Hootsuite. I am always using my account and is well worth it to be able to have a bigger look at all of your social media accounts at once. I think scheduled tweets, updates, statuses, etc. is a great way to stay ahead of the game and always be engaged with your followers.
Ah, yes! If only I had superpowers. If I had to choose one, it would be the ability to juggle many things extremely well without ever getting stressed! It would be a great one, don’t you think?
I love how you put this article together and found all of your insights very useful. Analyzing the market place and knowing what people are looking for is a tricky one, which Is why I have used Google Analytics. However, there are features that I have not yet enabled since I don’t know how to do it. But it would definitely help with being a “mind reader!”
My daughter’s family – with 4 children – are trying to get out the door to go on a hike. I wish I had super powers to make them go away so I can get my blog stuff done – LOL. I need some quiet time!
I love coming here because it motivates me to do what I need to do. Like others here, I need to pay attention to analytics. It’s not my favorite, but I am getting some help in that area, that goodness. Very nice post.
All the best,
Leslie
So glad you mentioned the analytics – I find that in working with small businesses that’s their Achilles Heel – Most haven’t really thought about what they want to achieve from their social media efforts – and it’s really hard to measure results when you don’t know what your goal is.
Thinking about measuring results would point people in the right direction.
As usual a great article
Yes,
We are very few babies of the 70s left. That is, with the guts to continue to give quality vs quantity. I love your insights.
I feel that my super powers is insight and knowledge on how to use it. I search for knowledge and understanding, each day. Those, would be my powers.
Practicing daily patience, with myself. That, gives me time to think prior to reacting. Then, my abilities to read a persons desires. Become to take shape.
Hey, belief in yourself. That is a super power we all should just want. No doubt, and all self empowering abilities. That is a gift that would be priceless.
You continue to WOW me. Thank you for allowing us to share your knowledge today!
Great tips as always Rebekah. I know my big weak spot is paying attention to analytics … it’s just one of those things that by the time I get through all of the other tasks in a day it just always seems to fall off the radar. Thanks for the reminder!
Hey Rebekah,
Okay, I love this post just like everyone else that mentioned the same. It was fun and took us all back to when we wanted to be super heroes. Yep, I remember the 70’s too and I had plenty of bell bottom jeans and I loved Wonder Woman. She just rocked.
I think the only super powers I would love to have it learning how to speed read and write so I could visit three times the number of blogs I do and comment on them all. I know, I can’t help myself but it’s my way of learning and making those connections and for me it’s the most enjoyable part of my day. We all can’t be everywhere all the time and at times I start to feel guilty if I can’t make it by some of my favorites.
I agree though that all we really need to do is stay true to ourselves, always remain honest, interact with others and never ever be afraid to admit when we’ve made a mistake or are wrong. I think that just makes us that much more human in their eyes. I would hope so at least.
Thanks for such a fun post Rebekah, you do know how to make learning fun.
~Adrienne
That time travel can come in handy in many other places as well. This was a very well put together article and I enjoyed reading it. Thanks Rebekah.
Yes it could Gary! There would be so many people I’d go back and see and so many fun things I’d do all over again.
What a fun post Rebekah!
The message is loud and clear. To have those super hero powers, it all starts with a plan, but then we have to stick to it. We cannot stray.
I like to create a DMO (Daily Method of Operation) Since I’ve been sticking to that, I can get all my tasks of the day done on a timely basis.
What I love about this the BEST is when you stated “Pay attention to your analytics, metrics and goals.” Numbers don’t lie and that’s where my main focus is now.
I failed statistics twice in college, but now I’m an obsessive Stat Gal. I’m in love with numbers.
I feel so uplifted after reading this. Thanks!
-Donna
I’m with you Donna. Numbers were not my thing in school, but a huge focus now in the business world. Funny how our priorities shift!
I love your DMO. Such a great way to start each day. With clarity and purpose!
Hi Rebekah,
Love it! Being in 1,000,000 places at once, I’d dig that one 😉
Fun post, thanks much for sharing.
Wouldn’t that be amazing Ryan? If only we could be in a million places, doing a million things all at once!
Ahhh…such a fun dream!
Hey Rebekah
This is, WITHOUT a shadow of doubt, your BEST article #HUGSSS

I guess every writer would love to possess this super-power!
But – you know what – I don’t want to be a super-woman. I don’t want to have super-powers. What I want to be is REAL, positive, helpful, witty, proactive and – ultimately – productive! Like YOU. #HUGS
Love ya
Kitto
What a wonderful compliment Kit! You are so incredibly kind….thank you! And btw, you are every one of those things (and more) that you listed above!
Great post, thank you! I love being to work from anyway, but wish I could fly at lightening speed to get to know my clients in person. Fun stuff!
Wouldn’t that be great Lori? But I guess, then we’d complain that we have too much time on our hands. It’s always something. 🙂
This was such a fun article to read. Yes, I wish I had some of these super powers for sure. Hard to juggle so many of my sites and maintain relationships with the folks at blogs I follow. Thus I would have to say SuperHuman Speed would be my power of choice.
That seems to be the most popular pick Troy! If only we could all get everything we ever wanted to get done in half the time. Life would be good! 🙂
Hi Rebekah,
Very interesting article, you certainly touch the heard of every marketer. I’m sure every marketer wants these super power so that he/she can succeed. 😉
It would be fun to have them, wouldn’t it Pankaj? We can only dream!
Hi Rebekah,
Lovely post indeed 🙂
Ah…I wish I had a fairy with a magic wand or a genie as my super hero, who would at least take up the never ending comments at my blog and the social media part of sharing it all – life would be such a bliss!
However, if we follow all that you mentioned and take one step at a time to accomplish the tasks in hand, things can be done. I guess it all comes down to proper planning and time management, isn’t it?
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead 🙂
I think you nailed it Harleena. It’s all about planning and strategy. Without them, we’re simply fluttering around with nothing to show for it.
The fact that you’re struggling to keep up with comments and all of those social shares says it all. You’re doing an amazing job juggling it all!
I am learning from you, well written and engaging content!
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Carmen and thank you for dropping a note to say hi!
I agree with you CARMEN WILLIAMSON.
Thanks for sharing great articles with us i appriciate it.
